About Us

Keynsham Youth Theatre was set up with aim of teaching theatrical skills, and to perform in public using those skills.

The age group for membership is 12-23 years, with the only requirement for joining being enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn. Rehearsals are on a Tuesday evening in Keynsham from 7.00pm to 9.15pm with additional rehearsals at weekends just prior to productions.

Members regularly appear in shows presented by other groups, especially Keynsham Light Opera Group with whom the group has a close affiliation. In 1996 KYT topped the bill at a charity show at The Colston Hall in Bristol.

The group is non profit-making and is run by a committee elected at the AGM in June each year. It is a member of the National Association of Youth Theatres, and a previous member of the National Operatic Dramatic Association winning a NODA Award for Excellence for its production of 'Godspell'.
